Dolphin’s 2017 Schedule Breakdown

The 2017 NFL schedule has been released this week. The Dolphins have quite the schedule this year and some great prime time games. We are taking a trip to London once again and our bye week seems to take place at an interesting time. The league finally allowed the Dolphins to open up their season at home for just the second time in six seasons. The excitement for the draft is escalating and so it is for the regular season as well. I’m here to give you a game by game breakdown to have you grow more enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

Week 1 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Dolphins are finally hosting at home for the opening of the season. Now Tampa Bay and the Dolphins do not meet often so it should be quite the interesting match up. They have evenly split 10 games dating back to 1976. With Jameis Winston at quarterback it could be a great competition, but we’ll keep a look out on the team. After all, the Buccaneers is the chosen team for the HBO Hard Knocks series this summer. They’re a rising team for the playoffs so it’ll be a great challenge for the Miami Dolphins at the start of the season.

Week 2 – Los Angeles Chargers

That’s right the Chargers did move to Los Angeles if you had forgotten. I am also not sure about why there are two Los Angeles teams for various sports not only in football, but that’s besides the point. The Dolphins have built a great record against the Chargers the past few years. Just last year we beat them in part of our six-game winning streak. The Dolphins will be playing in a soccer stadium just one of our odd venues this season.

Week 3 – New York Jets

New York another great city with various teams in one sport. The Dolphins may be jet lagged in their trip from Los Angeles to New York, but they really shouldn’t have trouble handling the Jets. Miami swept the Jets last season and fortunately the Jets haven’t improved much this off-season so this game gives the Dolphins a reasonable shot at starting the season 3-0.

Week 4 – New Orleans Saints

This game will take place in the wonderful foreign city of London. Now remember when the Dolphins had that great 3-0 start to the 2013 season then they ran into New Orleans and lost 38-17, which caused the downhill effect that ruined their season? Well I certainly do and here we are again Week 4 with the high possibility that the Dolphins have a 3-0 start. We are a much different team than we were in 2013 so my expectations of winning are high against the Saints. New Orleans has also struggled the past couple years even though Drew Bree’s continues to put up crazy numbers.

Week 5 – Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are one of those teams that we can’t seem to get the upper hand on. The result of our last match up was entirely embarrassing and the Titans are another team pushing for a playoff run this season. Both teams are looking to find their way up so it should be a compelling one.

Week 6 – Atlanta Falcons

Although the Falcons blew an enormous lead against the Patriots in the Super Bowl last season, they still did make the Super Bowl. They came off an 11-5 season and are looking to redeem themselves in the 2017 season so the Dolphins will find themselves in a challenge Week 6.

Week 7 – New York Jets

Our second meeting with the Jets this season and another early one too. This game would be reaching around mid-season for the Dolphins so it could either go really well or patheticly bad for them, but I’m looking on the positive side for the Miami boys this week.

Week 8 – Baltimore Ravens

Another organization that gives the Dolphins much trouble. The Dolphins have played the Ravens for five straight seasons and have won only one out of all those meetings. They will have a hard time coming off a short week, but hopefully they will finally be able to pull out that win against the pesky Ravens.

Week 9 – Oakland Raiders

A Sunday Night Football game where the Dolphins can flaunt their stuff and prove how great of a team they are. The Oakland Raiders were a Super Bowl contender last season before future prime time quarterback, Derek Carr was injured. This will be a great game for the Dolphins to prove their competitiveness and add to their winning record.

Week 10 – Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers have disappeared since their appearance at the Super Bowl in 2014. The team has not been able to get it together and with Cam Newton’s poor attitude I don’t think it has gotten any better. Miami faced the Panthers in 2013 and lost. This will be a Monday night game so both teams should bring their all. I do believe the Dolphins have the upper hand in this one.

Week 11 – Bye Week

Miami’s preference was to have the bye week before the London game or more towards the middle of the season, but were not the Patriots so priority position is not the same.

Week 12 – New England Patriots

Although the bye week was preferred at another time, their is a positive in that. We get to prepare for the New England Patriots for two weeks. Some say that doesn’t make a difference and that’s very well true, but it just might. The New England Patriots swept us last year and the season resulted in winning the Super Bowl, but Jarvis Landry believes in his team. His prediction is that the Dolphins sweep the Patriots entirely. Bold move, Landry, but I like that attitude. Let’s get the presumed impossible done.

Week 13 – Denver Broncos

Adam Gase will face his old team for the first time as head coach so I have a strong feeling he’s going to want this one badly. Broncos nearly made the playoffs last season, but they are a mediocre team. They are a very beatable team for the Dolphins if they minimize the errors that were quite relevant last year.

Week 14 – New England Patriots

“Did we not just play them like two weeks ago?” Yes we did, and here we are meeting them again for a Monday night rumble. It’s a perfect spotlight to show we aren’t to be messed with. This will most likely be an extremely important game so let’s hope the Dolphins battle this one out and win. Get Landry that sweep he wants.

Week 15 – Buffalo Bills

Miami ended a four-year winning drought last Christmas Eve. The Buffalo Bills are one big dysfunctional organization, but it’s a division game and things happen. If Miami wants it bad enough, they will get it done.

Week 16 – Kansas City Chiefs

Arrowhead Stadium is a tough one for most opponents, but seems like the Dolphins have kept it under control in recent trips. The Chiefs are a great team in the regular season so the Dolphins will have a rough game if not played to their best abilities.

Week 17 – Buffalo Bills

Another division game for the Dolphins in their last regular season game, but compared to playing the Patriots in their last game I’d say this is a big improvement. This could be a happy or miserable game for the Dolphins depending on how they show up; depending if they’re sitting pretty at the top of the division, struggling to earn a seat in the wild card, or even worse completely out of the playoff run.

My predictions seem to favor Miami naturally since I am a Dolphins fan, but in reality I know my team could potentially lose 5 games if not executed with competitive schemes. The Dolphins also have the sixth most difficult schedule in 2017, but finally it seems Miami is establishing a notable franchise. They’re a different team and I think they proved that towards the end of their 2016 season. Only time will tell, but it’s looking positive.

The Come Back Kids

At one point 19 games below the .500, the Heat are now on the verge of making the playoffs. They were 11-30 and now stand tied at 33-35 with the Pistons. They are both battling for that eighth spot, which takes them to the playoffs.

Goran Dragic sat out one game with a swollen black eye, but refused to sit out the Pelicans’ game. He played through it Wednesday night scoring 33 points while his teammate Hassan Whiteside scored 20 points and came down with 17 rebounds. It was another red hot win for the Heat against the Pelicans.

“Nothing’s guaranteed, everybody’s talking about how far we’ve come and what we’ve accomplished. We’re not in the playoffs yet. But at least we were given an opportunity to show persistence and develop that.” Erik Spoelstra told reporters after the game, who is also a nominee for Coach of the Year this season.

Wayne Ellington also added 19 points on the board. A total of 16 3-pointers were made in 112-120 win over the Pelicans.

The Heat will play the Timberwolves at home this Friday, March 17 while the Pistons will play the Raptors. Let’s see who takes grab of the eighth spot after Friday. It might be a continuous battle until the playoffs.

Ed Sheeran Starring in Game of Thrones

Maisie Williams is screaming with joy because Ed Sheeran will be appearing in the next season of Game of Thrones.

The show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss admit they’ve been chasing after Ed Sheeran for a while — Maisie is a huge fan and they finally made it happen for her. The show premieres its seventh season on July 16.

“For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie, and this year we finally did it,” told Benioff. Unfortunately nothing else has been said as far as his role in the series or who’s side he’ll be on.

Another big reveal includes that the eighth season will be the final season, which will only have six episodes, yes only six. Our time with the Seven Kingdoms is coming to a close, but let’s enjoy the remaining time we have with GoT.

Who will Ed Sheeran pick the side of? — the Starks or Westeros, perhaps ride along with Dothraki in Khaleesi’s army…

Miami Dolphins Signings Still Not Enough

The Dolphins have been active in free agency thus far, but nothing like the big contracts signed in years past. The slower approach this year could go either way for the Dolphins since they still have a few holes to fill.

It’s great the organization has gone away from free spending back in the Jeff Ireland and recent Dennis Hickey days. They have become more calculated when it comes to signing, but we are still not strong enough to compare with the champs, the New England Patriots.

With the strong additions of Kony Ealy, Stephen Gillmore, Brandin Cooks, and Dwayne Allen the Dolphins have only been able to match ground with the Patriots rather than gain ground.

Kenny Stills signing and Reshad Jones extension was a big deal, they make key plays in the game that is needed. The addition of Andre Branch was eyebrow-raising to some. He’s a great rotational defensive end, which was also needed.

Ted Larson is a good guard to have for 3 years, but not someone the Dolphins can rely on for long term. The trade of a 6th-round pick for William Hayes was a questionable decision since the trade amounted to a one year rental of Hayes. These are called short term fixes. Dolphins need to seek the long term benefits of signing players. Lawrence Timmons was a great sign, but we caught him at 32 years of age so you have to wonder if he’ll continue playing for another 5 years.

It appears the Miami Dolphins have found veteran players to hold down the fort while they seek rookies to be the next potential starters in the next few seasons to come. This is the typical image of a “rebuild,” which can be both nerve-wracking and exciting to witness. The Miami Dolphins are trying to move forward on a positive term.

Miami still has holes at guard, Larson is not a long term decision. The signing of Nate Allen isn’t that exciting since he does not compliment Reshad Jones too well. That is only a band-aid to a bigger problem. Linebacker is still lacking at outside and if Timmons goes down we need someone who can fill his shoes. Defensive end and defensive tackle is still a big question that might be answered in the 2017 draft.

The remaining cap is $10 million dollars, but the rookies will take up about $6 million of that cap space so we will see what it leaves management to decide. Overall, the Dolphins have made some good adjustments and are finally not free spending as they have in the past seasons. This is a positive step in growth with the Miami Dolphins.

Miami Dolphins Off-Season Update

The 2016 Dolphins season was presumed doomed when there record struck 1-4. They would come back to win 6 straight games and finish their season 10-6. This allowed them to make their first postseason appearance in 8 years. Adam Gase was a nominee for Coach of the Year as well. Miami fans are now looking for the Dolphins to have a strong year in 2017. What will be the necessary adjustments to make that happen?

What moves have the Dolphins already made this off-season?

To begin the Dolphins cut Mario Williams who turned out to be a waste this past season, who averaged 1.5 sacks for the season. Earl Mitchell was also cut due to his rare contribution with injuries the entire season.

Vance Joseph, the Dolphins defensive coordinator has been hired by the Broncos to be head coach starting the 2017 season. With his departure, Dolphins replaced Joseph with Matt Burke, the Dolphins linebacker coach.

The biggest move this off-season actually surrounds Brandon Albert and the trade with Julius Thomas.

Brandon Albert had signed a 5 year, $47 million deal with the Dolphins back in 2014. Unfortunately, Albert has missed 13 games in the last three seasons with the Dolphins. Back in February, the Dolphins had discussions with the Jaguars organization on potential deals.

The Dolphins first traded a seventh-round pick for tight end Julius Thomas. Miami had planned on cutting Albert, but did not submit the required paperwork once the Jaguars indicated enthusiasm for Albert. Assuming it was simpler to sign two separate deals since an agreement had already been put in place for Thomas, the Dolphins sent Albert up to Jacksonville in trade for a 2018 seventh-round pick. It will not become official until the open market starting on March 9th at 4 p.m. ET

What are the Dolphins top three needs this coming season?

Linebacker:

It would seem Miami needs to rebuild their entire defense due to their poor rankings in the 2016 season. They finished 29th in total defense, 15th in passing, and most the dreadful — they finished 30th in rushing. Although they need work in multiple positions, their biggest hole is in the linebacker position. Most important would be re-signing Kiko, which I’ve discussed in my previous article. Another important return would be Jenkins. It’s important the Dolphins go shopping for linebackers this off-season.

Defensive Tackle:

Ndamukong Suh can’t do the job on his own. He’s in need of another defensive tackle on the line with him. There seems to be lack of depth in defensive end. Jared Odrick hasn’t done much in his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Perhaps we can see a renunion at one point if Dolphins decide to give him a chance. A free agent signing, which would “wow” fans in a great way would be Brandon Williams. Time will tell.

Guard:

As seen in my previous posting of the top free agent guards, this is a very good time to be shopping for guards. Dolphins already have a great guard, Laramy Tunsil, but we’re in need of more. Veterans T.J Lang and Kevin Zeitler are apparently the best two guards hitting the market. Not to mention we have the draft coming up. Dolphins are keeping their eye on a top prospect, Forrest Lamp. He played as a tackle in Western Kentucky and the Dolphins apparently have high hopes for him. They intend to fill both spots this off-season we’ll have to see what they do with the options they possess.

‘One Climbs in an Instant’

A Mexican Congressman climbs a 30 ft. fence wall to mock Donald Trump.

Braulio Guerra, a congressman from Queretaro, Mexico says Donald Trump’s plan to build a wall along the border of Mexico and the U.S. is useless. He took video and photos of himself climbing the wall.

He said the proposal for the wall was “absurd and unnecessary spending, that does wrong and harms our good neighborliness.”

In the video he states, “I was able to scale it, climb it, and sit myself right here.” Guerra continues, ” It would be simple for me to jump into the United States, which shows that it is unnecessary and totally absurd to build a wall.”

He climbed it in Tijuana, which is also the location of one of the highest parts of the fence. He met up with two other individuals casually climbing the fence as well.

Miami Dolphins new contracts in works for Alonso, Stills, and Jones

Miami Dolphins are working diligently to get at least two of their players to come back by under going longer term deals.

Discussions of Kiko Alonso deserving a better deal is finally in the works. Dolphins have also been in conflict with Kiko in regards of having him move to outside linebacker. Alonso wants to remain in the middle but stated he would do whatever is best for the team. It seems Alonso will remain as middle linebacker after all as he is negotiating a new contract with the Miami Dolphins.
Alonso is a restricted free agent so if he receives offers, the Dolphins stated they will be matching any offer he gets. They want him to stay. Reports say the Dolphins are aiming to tie the knot before the market opens on March 9th.

Media has reported Thursday that the Dolphins are not letting go of Kenny Stills that easily. Negotiations of a new contract are in the works. It was reported that Stills would receive a contract between $10-12 million, but rumors recently stated it would be closer to $8 million. Stills has openly and privately said he wants to remain in Miami.

Negotiations with the Dolphins will continue, but other teams may also start negotiating with Kenny starting March 7th. It seems things will get interesting in the coming weeks regarding Mr. Stills.

Rashad Jones is not a rookie when it come to contract negotiations. In 2016 Jones tried to intimidate the Dolphins by saying he would hold out 2 years of his 4 year contract. With one year left on his deal and having a season ending shoulder injury in 2016, a new contract is up for Rashad. Jones feels he is one of the best in the safety position, which is a good argument. Besides this past season, Jones has been a reliable safety for the Dolphins. They will be negotiating a new deal as the Dolphins want to keep Jones.

Nothing has yet been put in stone, but with free agency approaching we will see more of the details in these contracts and whether they will be agreed upon.

Ed Sheeran Unveils He Once Busted Justin Bieber in the Face with a Golf Club

Sounds like a joke right? Well it isn’t. Ed Sheeran once got a bit too drunk and striked Justin Bieber right in the face with a golf club. You’re probably thinking this is a result of an aggressive altercation, but you might be surprised from what actually took place.

Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber are known to be great music buddies. Well, once upon a time in Japan hanging out like music buddies do they went to a bar and afterwards decided to take part in some fun activities.

Justin Bieber challenged Ed Sheeran to a golf ball dangerous tee challenge. The dangerous tee was Justin Bieber’s mouth.

Ed Sheeran tells The Guardian, “We’d been out to a dive bar. He just drank water and I got hammered.” Sheeran, 26, continues “Then we went to a golf course, and he lay on the floor and put a golf ball in his mouth and told me to hit it out of his mouth. I was like, F—, I need to aim this properly, and I swung.”

As we would have predicted, the stunt did not work according to plan.

“You know in films when someone gets punched, and you hear that fake sound, like a slap? But in real life when someone gets punched, you hear that dull thud, a bit sickening? I heard a sound like the last one,” Sheeran stated. “I’d cracked Justin Bieber right in the cheek with a golf club. That was one of those ‘What the f—?’ moments,” he continued.

Ed Sheeran says he’s doing a lot less drinking now regarding beer, at least. He started a diet after taking a year off. He cut out beer and so far it’s worked amazingly. He’s lost a total 50 pounds.

After this story I think everyone appreciates Ed Sheeran just a bit more.
